Home Alone house sells for $5.5M

After less than a year on the market, the iconic Home Alone house has officially sold for more than the $5.5 million asking price.

According to People, the Winnetka, Illinois, property, which has five bedrooms and six bathrooms, was first advertised for $5.25 million in May of last year and quickly entered into a contract.

The transaction was still pending, according to Coldwell Banker Realty listing agents Dawn McKenna and Katie Moor in December. "We’re thrilled with the way this home captured everyone’s attention and hearts due to its well-deserved place in cinematic history and the timeless holiday memories it evokes," the agents said in a statement.

Tim and Trisha Johnson previously owned the house, having paid $1.585 million for it in 2012. In 2018, the pair enlarged and renovated the house while preserving the movie's beauty. A chef's kitchen, a screened-in porch, French doors, a high-ceilinged family room, and another family room were all added during this renovation. They kept the iconic brick facade from the beloved holiday movie about terrible parenting and burglaries.
