Will Smith trying to make a comeback

In the aftermath of the 2022 Oscars incident where Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock, the acclaimed actor faced significant professional setbacks, including a 10-year ban from the Academy Awards and strained industry relationships. However, Smith has been actively working towards revitalizing his career through various creative endeavors.

Marking a significant comeback to his musical roots, Will Smith is set to release his first album in two decades, titled Based on a True Story, on March 28, 2025. The album features collaborations with artists such as Teyana Taylor, Jaden Smith, and DJ Jazzy Jeff. Smith has already released several singles from the album, including "Beautiful Scars" and "Work of Art." In interviews, he reflects on his past mistakes and compares his experience to the Japanese art of kintsugi, emphasizing rebuilding and finding beauty in flaws. Despite his success in acting, Smith aims to elevate his music to the same level of mastery.

Smith is also returning to the big screen with Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the fourth installment in the popular franchise co-starring Martin Lawrence. The film includes a comedic moment inspired by the Oscars incident. Additionally, Smith is set to co-star with Michael B. Jordan in a sequel to I Am Legend, currently in active development. He is also attached to star in the science fiction films Brilliance and Resistor.

Demonstrating his resilience and commitment to his craft, Smith led a heartfelt tribute to the late Quincy Jones at the 2025 Grammys, marking his return to the award show stage after previous controversies. He also performed at the 2025 CONCACAF Nations League final at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on March 23, 2025.

Through these multifaceted efforts, Will Smith is actively reconstructing his public image and reestablishing his presence in the entertainment industry.
