Wiz Khalifa ‘Clouds’ Freestyle Gets High Praise

​In a surprise collaboration that has delighted hip-hop fans, J. Cole and Wiz Khalifa have reunited after 15 years to release a remix of Cole's latest single, "cLOUDs." The track debuted on March 6, 2025, through Cole's newly launched blog, The Algorithm. ​

J. Cole expressed admiration for Wiz Khalifa's recent musical endeavors, stating, "Wiz skating. TGOD. And he been on a wave," referencing Wiz's prolific output of mixtapes and freestyles. He also highlighted Wiz's collaboration on the track "Jill Scott" with Premo Rice, Harry Fraud, and Curren$y, noting, "Matter fact I heard this joint he's on a couple months ago." ​

Prior to the official release, Wiz Khalifa teased his involvement in the remix, sharing on Instagram, "Cole asked me to do a verse on here I don't know when he's gonna drop it so I figured I'd let y'all get a sneak peek."

The original "cLOUDs" track, released on February 20, 2025, features J. Cole addressing contemporary issues such as the attempted assassination of Donald Trump and the rise of artificial intelligence. He raps, "I'm that bass in your trunk, the bullet that missed Trump / The gun that jammed 'cause it seemed God had other plans," alluding to the president's shooting last summer. Cole also critiques societal inequalities, pointing to billionaires profiting amidst global challenges, and raises concerns about AI's impact on the creative arts, questioning, "Before long, all the songs the whole world sings'll be generated by latest of AI regimes."
